Troubleshooting
Motor & Electrical

Machine does not
start or a breaker
trips.
1. Main Power switch turned off.
2. Emergency Stop push-button is engaged/
faulty.
3. Plug/receptacle is at fault or wired incor

rectly.
4. Motor connection wired incorrectly.
5. Wall fuse/circuit breaker is blown/tripped.
6. Thermal overload relay has tripped.
7. Contactor not getting energized/has burnt
contacts.
8. Power supply switched OFF or is at fault.
9. Wiring is open/has high resistance.
10. Motor Start button or Main Power switch is
at fault.
11. Motor is at fault.
1. Rotate Main Power switch to
ON or 1.
2. Rotate clockwise slightly until it pops out/replace it.
3. Test for good contacts; correct the wiring.
4. Correct motor wiring connections (
Page 56).
5. Ensure circuit size is suitable for this machine;
replace weak breaker.
6. Turn cut-out dial to increase working amps and push
the reset pin. Replace if tripped multiple times (weak
relay).
7. Test for power on all legs and contactor operation.
Replace unit if faulty.
8. Ensure power supply is switched on; ensure power
supply has the correct voltage.
9. Check for broken wires or disconnected/corroded
connections, and repair/replace as necessary.
10. Replace faulty Start button or Main Power switch.
11. Test/repair/replace.
Machine stalls or is
overloaded.
1. Wrong workpiece material.
2. Motor connection is wired incorrectly.
3. Plug/receptacle is at fault.
4. Motor bearings are at fault.
5. Machine is undersized for the task.
6. Motor has overheated.
7. Contactor not getting energized or has poor
contacts.
8. Motor is at fault.
9. Hydraulic fluid low in reservoir.
10. Hydraulic fluid pressure too low; hydraulic
pump at fault.
11. Hydraulic system has leaks or valves at

1. Use only metal with a hardness of 45 kg/mm

and is within capacities of machine.

3. Test for good contacts; correct the wiring.
4. Test by rotating shaft; rotational grinding/loose shaft
requires bearing replacement.
5. Use sharp tooling; keep workpiece within the capaci
